「千手観音菩薩（せんじゅかんのんぼさつ）」は、大乗仏教において広大無辺な慈悲を象徴する、最も人々に親しまれてきた仏様の一つです。正式には「千手千眼観世音菩薩」と呼ばれ、千の手と千の眼であらゆる人々の苦しみや祈りをもれなく見つけ出し、すべての人に救いの手を差し伸べる「大慈大悲（絶大な慈悲）」を司ります。病気平癒、災難除け、夫婦円満、そしてあらゆる願望を成就させる絶大な功徳があるとされ、子（ねずみ）年生まれの方の生涯の守護本尊としても篤く信仰されています。

本作品は、千手観音の聖なる波動と慈愛のエネルギーを宿す種字（梵字）「キリーク（Hrīḥ）」をモチーフに制作されました。半世紀以上にわたり伝統書道の真髄を体得してきた書家・鎌田惺舟（Seisyu Kamata）が、幾何学的な様式美とアシンメトリー（非対称）の現代的な美学を融合。力強い運筆のなかに、光を捉えて煌めく極細の黄金の境界線（レリーフ状の縁取り）を施し、重なり合う美しい色彩とともに幻想的な現代ファインアートへと昇華させました。

Sahasrabhuja Avalokiteshvara (The Thousand-Armed Avalokiteshvara) is the supreme embodiment of boundless compassion in Mahayana Buddhism, remaining one of the most widely revered deities. Formally named Sahasrabhuja-sahasranetra, meaning "Thousand Arms and Thousand Eyes," this deity possesses a thousand eyes to perceive every cry for help and a thousand arms to extend salvation to all sentient beings simultaneously. Revered since antiquity for healing illnesses, warding off major adversity, ensuring marital harmony, and granting heartfelt wishes, Sahasrabhuja is also deeply worshipped as the lifetime guardian deity for those born in the Year of the Rat.
