十二支の第四位に位置する「卯（う・兎）」は、飛躍、向上、そして家内安全や平穏を象徴する大変しとやかで縁起の良い干支です。兎がぴょんぴょんと跳ね上がる姿から「跳躍」「飛躍」の象徴とされ、景気や運気を大きく持ち上げる吉兆として古来より尊ばれてきました。また、その優しく温厚な性質から「人間関係の調和」や「家内安全」をもたらす存在としても親しまれています。
